New (improved!) to the blog is snap.com's overhaul of all links to include pop-up window preview of their respective sites. A great idea for search engines but does it translate well into blogdom?
Actual substance gained from seeing a two inch preview of the future site seems minimal, considering any truly interesting link would already have been clicked. Moreover, tiny windows tracing your cursor movement over links can be distracting, especially if all you want to do is truck through text. And yes, linking every other word in a block of blogness has become de rigeur, to the extent of annoyance. I will try not to do it much, nor sing out of tune.
Perhaps the marginal gain is minimal, but it does make the site awfully shiny. That should count for something.
